Common questions
Do I need to give DataVault access to all my Google Drive files?
No. DataVault requests the drive.file scope, which only
grants access to files it creates in a DataVault/ folder
in your Drive. It cannot read any of your other Drive files.
What happens to my data if DataVault shuts down?
Your vault files live in your own Google Drive under
DataVault/DataVaultData.json. You own that file. If the
app ever disappeared, your data would remain in your Drive, readable
and exportable. Nothing is locked in a proprietary server.
Is my data encrypted?
Encryption is optional and entirely client-side. When enabled, AES-256-GCM encryption is applied on your device before any data leaves it. The server never sees your plaintext content or your encryption key.
Will it stay free?
The core vault features will always have a free tier. A paid plan may be introduced for advanced features in the future. If your plan is ever affected, you'll get advance notice.
