About

A vault built for privacy

DataVault started as a personal tool. It grew into something worth sharing.

"Most note apps are really subscription services in disguise. Your data lives on their servers, behind their pricing tiers, with their future uncertain. DataVault is different: your content lives in your own Google Drive, encrypted on your device if you want, and readable whether or not DataVault ever exists."

What drives every decision

Privacy first

You own your data and where it lives. DataVault only touches files it creates. Optional client-side encryption ensures even the sync layer sees nothing.

No lock-in

Your vault is a JSON file in your Google Drive. It's yours. Export, move, or read it without any proprietary tool. DataVault is a convenience layer, not a cage.

Deliberate craft

Every file type is purpose-built. The CV editor knows about ATS keywords. The Plot Builder understands storylines. Tools are only as good as the thought behind them.

Works offline

All three platforms — web, desktop, mobile — cache your vault locally. You can read and write without a connection. Changes sync when you're back online.

Transparent pricing

The core vault is free and will stay free. If a paid tier is introduced, you'll know in advance what changes and what doesn't. No surprise paywalls.

Fast iteration

Built solo, shipped continuously. Feedback lands directly with the person who writes the code. Bugs get fixed, ideas get tested, and the product improves quickly.
